Thank you for your work in making a wonderful N64 emulator and I hope this can improve it! It would be beneficial to include the toggle method for users with the less-than-optimal number of buttons, but for most people we will probably want to be able to map individual C buttons to other areas of the controller for maximum compatibility with more games. Please, developers, allow for individual mapping of the C buttons, it will make the input less of a headache for everyone. Simultaneously, I have the C left and C right mapped to the right joystick of my controller. this is especially useful for games like Super Smash Bros which requires the jump button to be next to the other two buttons- this is how it would naturally be on the real gamepad and games are designed in this fashion. I cannot map the C buttons to be C buttons because of the current method of configuration.Īn example configuration is to map the Retropad A and X buttons to C up and C down respectively. For example, I own an N64 USB pad replica. This is poor design choice as it assumes that the user only has a controller with two face buttons aside from a D-Pad. C buttons are mapped to face buttons, but require a toggle button to be held to become functional. If you're using a common two-analog controller to play N64 games, the C button will become the right analog, and L2 equals the Z Trigger, and the rest buttons will be the same.Īlthough a Xbox or PlayStation controller is functional, the N64 controller is the way to go for the authentic N64 gaming experience. As is, there are two options for mapping C buttons. Then go back to your Pi, and enter the game, now the N64 controller will be good working now!. Download the configuration file "input.xml_n64-controller".Cilck in and enter "system - configs - mupen64".Enter the IP Address of your Pi by using the network share function of your pc and you will see a "share" folder.Make sure your pc and your Pi are under the same line so you can drag the file into your system.( You can also download this remap file here)Īnd if you wanna choose the "Non- Libretro", since it will not have a RetroArch menu, so you may need a pc to do so: Then go back, enter "Manage Remap Files", choose "Save Core Remap File" and it will be all set.Mapping the "A" button to "C3", "B" button to "C2", "X" button to "Y-", "Y" button to "X-", "Select" button to "Y+", "L2" button to "Z Trigger" and "R2" button to "X+" and leave the rest as default. When you enter a game, press "Select+B" (or the proper hotkey you assigned) to bring out the RetroArch menu.If you wanna use the emulator with "Libretro", you need to do some in-game settings:.
